What people say about our Refugee Awareness workshops and talks...

"I found the training very powerful and enlightening. Nola explained very complex issues in the most accessible way. I would recommend this course to anyone working with children, young people and communities.”

Course Participant,
Multi-Agency Training
“Gulwali Passarlay gave us a fascinating insight into the lives of so many refugees who go to enormous lengths to escape from whatever horrendous life awaits them if they stay put."

The Galley Club

"Nola was an exceptional speaker for our Human Rights and Refugees talk here at Bradford College. The students and staff in attendance were engaged and took on board Nola's passion and enthusiasm. Nola is welcome back here anytime."
Bradford College
"We were delighted to welcome Gulwali to the United Reformed Church, where a sell-out audience listened to him tell his story and speak with great passion about his hopes for the future. He answered questions from the audience, then met and chatted to people individually as he signed copies of his book. He made sure everyone in the long queue got the chance to speak to him.

This charming, polite, and eloquent young man left no one in doubt about his ambition to help the plight of other refugees so they don’t have to experience the awful situations he went through. He talked about his hopes to one day return to his homeland, Afghanistan, and do all he can to make it a safe, war–free country. We wish you well, Gulwali, you were an inspiration."

"I sat in during Nola's Refugee awareness training at my School for Year 7 students, and was so impressed and inspired by her approach in educating the children. It seems so simple to help children see that refugees are just like them and are all people, however this message is sometimes hard to get across, but Nola really did this well.

Nola uses interactive techniques to engage the children and they were so engrossed and responded really well. I have worked with Refugees and even I learnt a lot during this session! Our school are looking into working with Nola again for training of our staff. I would really recommend Nola for training sessions for both adults and children."

Ellie Jones, Roundhay High School

"Nola is exceptionally knowledgeable and enthusiastic about equality for refugees. I would recommend this session to children and staff in ALL schools!”
